DfT Cycle Stakeholder Forum

Making my way through the Cycling Cultures report and came across a reference to the DfT Cycle Stakeholder Forum. Hadn't heard of it before, or thought I hadn't, apparently Norman Baker mentioned it at the Westminster Cycling Debate. Google threw this up... http://www.dft.gov.uk/foi/dft-f0008862/ ...which sounds Times oriented. You can't argue with the vision, but wonder how the action plan will aim to achieve it...

Google also shows german geordie Katya has been on the case for a while. I wonder if Kat put in the FoI?

Nice vision (10% of trips by 2020) and then a set of actions that don't add up to anything at all. ..

Thanks for digging it out though - interesting stuff

FoI... nopes, not me. In a multiple-pincer movement it appears... I've got my MP on the case... http://newcycling.org/news/20120415/liaising-our-mps. She's very good at forwarding replies from Ministers, once received.

Dear Katja,

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the Cycle Forum and your concerns over that way that this is being ran.

I appreciate the concerns that you have raised regarding the Cycle Forum and the lack of openness or clarity with regards to its purpose.

Given the concerns that you have raised, I have again written to Norman Baker MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport. I have asked that he address the concerns that you have raised and provide further information and clarity as to the aims of this forum, who or what organisations are involved with the forum and of any dedicated website or materials. I will of course contact you again once I have received a response.

Yours sincerely,
