This week's Good Cycling Facility is an underpass (or underbridge) on the outskirts of the Dutch city of Delft.
At this location the cyclepath passes under the A13 motorway. In all ten lanes of motor traffic are crossed, in complete safety - six lanes of motorway and four lanes of slip road.
The underpass is carefully designed to allow the maximum amount of light and visibility for social safety. It has wide, open sides, dedicated street lighting and clear sightlines. The gradient is also shallow, to minimise the effort required to cycle out of the underpass, and there is a separate footway for pedestrians.
