There's a recently altered road junction in Sheffield which has been changed to take advantage of a newly filtered street.
Priority has been changed so that the cycle route has priority over crossing traffic (of which there is lots at peak times). This is part of a cycle route through the cities university area. Some videos showing the junction and the problems.
Q1: What are valid objections to a temporary road closure order?
a. Loss of access with no suitable alternative provided;
b. and???
Q2: Can a taxi rank be permantly relocated to the otherside of the street following works done under temporary road closure order or will an amended TRO need to be done as well?

Hi all, Solihull Council are consulting on proposed changes to a junction near the town center. The junction in question is being converted from a roundabout to a standard four-arm light controlled junction and is on a busy and well trafficed route between the town center and a large retail park. The road itself has 1.25 meter wide advisory cycle lanes and is a key cycle route for those brave enough to use it and has been targetted by the bicycle campaign as potential road for segregated cycle tracks to be added to.

Are there any dummies guides or Coursera courses about the principles of highways law and engineering, preferably looking at practice around the planet and pointing out the best examples?
What professional courses are available?
I was talking with a local authority cycling officer who stated there isnt any professional training about cycling infrastructure

Have a technical question to do with the relative costs of building a cycle bridge versus an underpass for a cycleway to cross a two-track railway line, where there is space for either option.
An underpass is preferable, as the Dutch would provide:

The Tower Bridge Quietway Consultation conclusion states
"Cyclists will cross Tower Bridge Road at the same time as pedestrians. Both will have push buttons to ‘call’ the invitation to cross, and waiting times will be similar to those currently in operation. "
As I have a cargo trike for disability reasons, this will require me to stop, put the parking brakes on, get off the trike, move over to the signal, go back to the bike, sit down, get comfortable and move on before the green light for me has dissapeared.
I would like to share experiences dealing with the planning process, usually for wider schemes which may or not incorporate cycling, but sometimes for road and public realm schemes which may go through the planning process.
I am able to attend the conference tomorrow but not on Sunday.
We've had mixed successes in Coventry, but we now have enough experience to share with others and hopefully help local campaigners get more changes.
The preliminary designs for the cycle lane on the A105 have been released. I have some comments, but since I'm not an expert it is hard for me to judge, especially since the designs aren't very clear. Does any one have any comments that are worth mentioning when the public consultation continues, or perhaps by emailing the company?
