Good Cycling Facility of the Week: 8th May 2014

Simple, direct, wide and continuous - a cycle track through a major junction in Utrecht. Turning motor traffic is held at a red signal to prevent conflict. 

You must use this cycle path by law, rather than the carriageway - but why wouldn't you? 

Note also that right turns here are free for cycling at any time - a right turn is not signalised. This road is also a major bus corridor, with bus lanes in the middle, and only one lane in each direction allocated to private motor traffic.
