This week's Good Cycling Facility is a parallel cycle path to a main road on the outskirts of the town of De Lier in the Netherlands.
The N222 on the left is the equivalent of a British A-road (although it is carefully designed to maximise safety for motorists, with a physical barrier between the lanes to prevent overtaking). The cycle path is some distance away from the road, on the other side of a canal. This greater distance reduces the unpleasantness of cycling next to a fast and busy road.
