This week's Good Cycling Facility is a wide bi-directional cycleway in the suburbs of the Dutch city of Nijmegen.
As can be seen from the photograph, this path is wide enough to allow comfortable side-by-side cycling in both directions. There is a separate footway, along with dedicated street lighting, trees for shelter, and a wide verge separating the cycleway from the road.
Although the space between the buildings here is very wide, there is actually only one lane of private motor traffic in each direction. The great majority of the space is occupied by walking, cycling, bus lanes and vegetation.
