This week's Good Cycling Faciltiy is a cycle path connection onto a cycle street, in the Dutch city of Utrecht.
The road in the background can be used by motor traffic, but is effectively a dead-end for motor vehicles. Only cycle traffic can progress through these streets, and to and from the city centre, running parallel to the railway line on the right of the photograph, thanks to the connecting path in the foreground.
This means that cycle traffic is privileged, with a direct route into the city not available to motor traffic. It also results in a very quiet street to cycle on, with only residents and vehicles accessing properties driving on the street.
