This week's Good Facility is a low (very low!) motor traffic street in the city centre of Utrecht. This street forms part of an access-only network in the city centre; none of these streets form a route to anywhere else, meaning that the only motor traffic on them will be accessing properties on them.
This street has recently been redesigned, with wider footways and removal of all car parking, making it more attractive for walking and cycling. The previous asphalt surface, with painted cycle lanes at the margins, has been replaced with smooth cobbles, and the road markings have also been removed at junctions. All these features mean that the new 30km/h speed limit on the street is self-enforcing.
You can read more about this street and the redesign on the BicycleDutch blog.
