Good Cycling Facility of the Week: 3rd December 2015

This week's Good Facility is an example of ensuring safety and continuity of provision during building works.

Westplein is large junction in Utrecht, currently undergoing major construction works. The new cycleway (visible on the left) had to be closed temporarily; a portion of the carriageway was therefore taken to allow people to cycle on this arm of the junction, protected from motor traffic by large concrete barriers. Nowhere near as wide as the finished product, but good enough for the duration of construction.
