This week's Good Facility is a Dutch roundabout, made up entirely of kerbs and paint.
Last year this junction in the Dutch city of Assen was a T-junction; it has been converted cheaply into a roundabout with the use of some well-placed temporary kerbs, and markings (the old 'give way' triangle markings are just about visible in the middle of the new roundabout).
As with other roundabouts in Assen, this (temporary) roundabout does not give priority to cycling. However only one lane of motor traffic is crossed at a time, with a waiting refuge between lanes, meaning that in practice delay is minimal.
This temporary layout works nearly as effectively as the real thing; however, at some future date it will be 'upgraded' to a completed roundaobut.
