This week's good facility is a relatively short section of road along the Seine in Paris, which used to be a busy two lane road, but has recently been closed to motor traffic.
This stretch of the river bank - by the Musee d'Orsay - is now pedestrian-friendly, as well as a useful, safe and pleasant cycle route along the river; busy in a different way, with people.
Paris has plans to make similar permanent closures to motor traffic along other sections of the left and right bank of the Seine.
