This week's Good Facility is a typical modern Dutch railway station in the town of Vleuten, outside of the city of Utrecht.
A wide underpass has been built into the station, meaning there is plenty of space for walking and cycling alongside a road for motor traffic. The cycleway connects directly to two large areas of cycle parking, in front of the station. Zebra crossings give clear and simple priority for pedestrians across both the road, and the cycleway.
This is an area of new development, and the station is fully connected with the local walking and cycling network, as well as having a large bus station directly in front of the station too. Walking, cycling and public transport are perfectly integrated.
