Good Cycling Facility of the Week: 17th November 2016

This week's Good Facility is a combination of a bi-directional cycleway (in the foreground) merging seamlessly into a service road, in a new suburb in the Dutch city of Zwolle.

This combination runs on both sides of the road; a series of cycleways and service roads allowing bi-directional cycling on each side. The only drivers encountered on the service roads will be those accessing the properties along them. 

The side road has clear priority for cycling, and the crossing is set back from the main road, allowing drivers to deal with the crossing separately from the road. Each side also only accesses a small number of properties, meaning the number of turning movements is small.
