This week's Good Cycling Facility is a combination of design interventions along the Maliesingel in Utrecht - a road that skirts the old city centre.
The road here has been significantly narrowed, with widened cycle lanes in smooth asphalt. Space for motor traffic is now just a narrow cobbled central strip. This has allowed a new footway to be constructed on the canal side of the road.
The side roads have continuous footway treatments - clear, unbroken footways that make it obvious to drivers that they are crossing pedestrian space.
Motor traffic levels have dropped significantly following the changes to this street - you can read more about them on the Bicycle Dutch blog.
