This week's Good Facility is a quiet country road on the outskirts of the town of Montfoort in the Netherlands.
These roads have low (60kph) speed limits and are deliberately designed not be through-routes for motor traffic. This road runs parallel to an equivalent A-road, meaning the quiet road only carrles local traffic accessing properties, rather than through traffic.
The markings are not cycle lanes, but merely a visual narrowing, designed to slow motor traffic. Cycle lanes are not necessary on roads of this character, with such low flows of motor traffic.
