Worthing Promenade shared use

Almost the entire Worthing Promenade (apart from perhaps a hundred metres of the western end) is now officially shared use for cyclists and pedestrians across it’s whole width. A one-year trial was deemed to be a success, with no serious problems.

In practice there are still a few hooligan cyclists, but they were using the Prom even when it was illegal. Now there are many sensible cyclists too, and the Prom is especially liked by families with children.

M’s Cycle Hire has opened in a shelter just east of the Pier, and does good business hiring out bikes to people wanting to ride on the Prom or along the NCN2 towards Brighton.
