Voorrangsplein

'Voorrangsplein' (literally, 'priority square') is a Dutch junction type that is superficially similar to a roundabout, but that takes the form of long lonzenge-shaped central island, designed specifically for situations where a major road (a distributor road) meets minor roads (access roads).

The intention is to retain priority for the traffic on the main road, but to slow it so that crossing it (either in motor vehicles, or by walking or cycling) is safer and easier.
