Traffic stress

Traffic stress is caused by safety issues (both perceived and real), as well as extended travel distance and difficulties in negotiating parts of the network.

Environments with low traffic stress will be suitable and attractive for all potential users; environments with high levels of traffic stress will exclude many potential users.
