Motorcycle barrier

Motorcycle barrier

A barrier (sometimes referred to as an A-Barrier) consisting of two angled plates, intended to prevent motorcycle access onto cycling and walking paths.

In practice, however, these barriers also prevent access for a wide variety of ordinary bicycles, as well as handcycles, wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs. They also often fail to prevent motorcycle access. Even where access is still possible, these barriers make cycling and walking inconvenient.

Paths should be easily accessible for all types of users. If there is a problem with (illegal) motorcycle access, that should be addressed through enforcement, not with barriers that penalise legitimate users, and prevent many of them from accessing these paths altogether.
