Design Speed

'Design Speed' refers to the assumed speed of users of a particular route, and therefore determines the way that route should be designed, to accommodate that speed. 

Cycling infrastructure shall be built with a design speed of 30kp/h (approximately 18mph), according to Highways England Design Standard Cycle Traffic and the Strategic Road Network.
