This weeks Good Facility doesn't look much like cycling infrastructure - in fact it looks like a pretty ordinary road.
But there's no need for cycling infrastructure here, in the centre of the city of Groningen, because motor traffic levels are very low, kept low by deliberate policy that means these streets are only used for access by a small number of drivers.
This also makes for an exceptionally safe, calm and peaceful city centre!

Not the best example
I'm not sure this particular road in the center of Groningen is the best example. There is a fair amount of bus traffic on this street, as it is basically the only street allowing you to go through the city center from South to North-West. To me it seems a compromise at a place where there is too little space, although certainly a decent compromise.

Ah, maybe we were fortunate
Ah, maybe we were fortunate when we were stood here, and then cycling on it - I don't think we saw a single motor vehicle!
But I guess the principle of a low traffic street is being illustrated, even if the street in question isn't actually sufficiently quiet.

Not a good example
We went there on the study tour. You will definitely have seen traffic on this road during that tour, as it's usually quite unpleasant to cycle along here.
The problem with Groningen is that the traffic free ring has streets full of buses around it. This is one of those streets. There are a total of 49 crashes recorded along this street, including cyclist injuries.
