It's not just the Dutch who can do floating bus stops well - this example is in the city of Bruges, in Belgium.
The cycle track runs behind the bus stop, meaning people cycling don't have to negotiate out around a stopped bus. Likewise bus traffic is not impeded by cycle traffic.
It's worth noting that this has been built in the last four years - you can see the previous arrangement on the Streetview link, with a narrow cycle lane running outside a bus stop layby. This is a considerable improvement - smooth cycle tracks, with full effective width.
