I'm fed up with this. Here's a blog post from Beyond The Kerb. Here's some info on a cyclist death in Stonor last October on a country lane blind bend, driving fully on the wrong side of the road. Not dangerous. Nope. Not even deemed "careless". The 'justice' system is deeply seriously broken.

It seems to be a huge factor pushing knowledgable campaigners away from cycling. People hate me, and the justice system won't protect me. I have no right to not be killed while cycling. I'd like to see some kind of large protest on this. I would think most reasonable people would agree that it's completely screwed up.

I agree that our justice system is insane sadly it reflects the "there but for the grace of God" paradigm that surrounds driving. I've often commented that if you want to kill somebody, use your car, not only will you get a pitiful sentence, you'll even get your weapon back in a few months.

Paradoxically, if you have a shot gun licence but are involved in an unrelated traffic offence, you'll lose your shotgun licence for life. One of my friends is a London cabbie (yes I can be inclusive), he's also a competition clay pigeon shooter and he says that he is terrified of being blamed if he has an accident - I've never driven with a more careful driver!
