This week's Good Facility is a fairly mundane (but excellent by British standards) cycle path in the suburbs of the Dutch city of Rotterdam.
The important detail here is gradient. The path joins a bridge to cross over the city's ring road, meaning a height gain of 20m or so. But the path is carefully designed to gain this height gradually over a distance of 400m or so, up the side of the embankment, meaning the gradient is low, and therefore easier to cycle up.
Gradients matter!
