This week our Good Facility is a simple priority crossing for a cycle path, across a main road in Houten. The cycle path is on a raised table, and priority is clearly indicated. Drivers have to stop, while people cycling have a smooth and continuous route.
The cycle path extends straight into a residential area, becoming a fietsstraat (bicycle street). This will be shared with motor vehicles, but only the small number gaining access to properties in the cul de sac. Bicycles have direct routes through these residential areas.
[The Streetview link also shows that, back in 2009, this was not a priority crossing. People cycling had to yield to motor traffic. The junction has been improved since then.]
