This street was a rat-run for drivers avoiding the busy main road which runs parallel one block to the north.
The cheap and simple but very effective intervention of installing bollards across the carriageway has turned this back into the quiet street it should have always been.
The bollards block cars and vans from using the street as a through-route, but bikes can still pass through. Known as filtered permeability.

Emergency vehicles?
Do they have a master key to take that removable bollard out with?
